Red Ink King of The Cut - 8th December 2012

The inaugural King of The Cut Race was run on Saturday 8th December 2012 From Dawesville Cut to Singleton beach. The downwind run was set to be the first in the series of four to choose the team to represent WA at the Surfing Australia National Championships in the latter half of 2013.

The race set off with 15-20knt tail winds and a 3 metre swell. A group of around 6 paddlers lead the way however as the race progressed Marcus and Ben Tardrew pulled away from the rest of the field and managed to keep it that way finishing 1st and 2nd respectively. One of the notable performances of the day came from Kevin Kemp-Smith who finished 1st in the O50's but 3rd overall!

Back in the main pack there were many individual battles taking place which pushed all competitors through to the finish at the 20km mark and giving everyone their own story to tell.

A big congratulations to all winners and all participants who for some this was the longest paddle they had done.
